Tratamento cirúrgico de osteorradionecrose maxilar: relato de caso

Abstract

Osteoradionecrosis is defined as necrotic bone tissue, which does not heal for a period of 3 months, due to radiotherapy exposure in the region, there being no presence of persistent or recurrent tumor. Methodology: the present work is a case report of a surgical treatment of maxillary osteoradionecrosis, which was elaborated through bibliographic research, using files available in the databases such as scielo, bireme, pubmed, google scholar and medline, of the last 10 years, with the exception of classic articles. It aims to report and discuss a clinical case of surgical treatment of maxillary osteoradionecrosis, associated with hyperbaric oxygenation as adjuvant therapy. In addition to analyzing the importance of the knowledge that the professional must have about the ORN, for choosing and carrying out the appropriate treatment, informing about the forms of prevention, describing it, presenting its etiology, symptoms, clinical and radiographic signs, their classifications and identifying the forms of treatment and preservation for osteoradionecrosis, in a way that allows a better prognosis for the patient. It is concluded that there are different ways to treat ORN, with surgical treatment being the choice, especially when associated with HBO, so that the tissue characteristics are returned.
