Projeto Transcender: estudo preliminar de um centro de acolhimento para a população transexual e travesti em São Luís - MA

Abstract

This research has as study the transsexual and travestis population of the city of São Luis - MA, and architecture as a tool for the social reintegration of these people. The work exposes a contextualization about the theme, bringing as bibliographic references Judith Butler, one of the main contemporary theorists of feminism and queer theory; besides presenting relevant data regarding the reality of extreme vulnerability of transgender and travestis people. There is also a brief discussion on environmental psychology to support the architectural proposal of a reception center that reverberates feelings of well-being and belonging of the space. The case studies are also present in this work, where national and international examples of reception centers from different social groups were used, so that important points of different social buildings could be filtered. The analysis of the surroundings and the natural conditions surrounding the land under study, were guiding for the elaboration of a building implantation plan in the place. Therefore, a reception center for the LGBT + public is proposed, focusing on the transsexual and travestis population on Av. São Luis Rei de França, where it will offer a clinical, housing and social sector, the latter open to the general public, for the promotion of socialization of Ludovicense social diversity.
