Clareamento externo em dentes traumatizados: revisão de literatura

Abstract

The enhancement of dental aesthetics associated with the pattern attributed to lighter teeth has driven the search for whitening treatments. The objective of this work is to evaluate, through a literature review, the effectiveness of the external whitening technique, its advantages and disadvantages in traumatized teeth, in order to defend a more conservative treatment. A thorough literature analysis was carried out, with selected articles from the virtual libraries BVS, MEDLINE, Academic Google and SCIELO, pubmed, Lilacs, which were published in the period from 1979 to 2021. Based on the research, it was possible to observe that in an attempt to reduce the risk of external root resorption, especially in patients with a history of trauma, external bleaching is a safer and less invasive treatment option, since it has greater preservation of the tooth structure, compared to other restorative treatments, in addition to the low cost.
