Restaurações cerâmicas utilizando sistema CAD/CAM: revisão de literatura

Abstract

Improvements in the aesthetic and mechanical characteristics of dental ceramic materials, associated with the evolution of procedures for adhesion to the dental structure based on scientific research, have provided significant changes in restorative dentistry. The virtual design of an indirect dental restoration through computer software and its real transformation through the milling of ceramic blocks is the principle of the technology called CAD/CAM. The objective of this work was to carry out a literature review on indirect ceramic restorations made using the CAD-CAM system. Scientific articles in English and Portuguese from 2004 onwards were searched in the Scientific Electronic Library Online (Scielo), Latin American and Caribbean Literature in Health Sciences (LILACS) and PUBMED databases, including review articles literature, clinical studies and laboratory studies. The improvement of software, scanners and milling machines, as well as the emergence of new ceramic materials, has enabled the construction of various types of indirect restorations, achieving satisfactory results in terms of fracture resistance, marginal adaptation and aesthetics. This new technology has been gradually used, not only simplifying, but also accelerating the entire production process for the acquisition of indirect ceramic restorations.
