Habitação no Centro Histórico de São Luís: uma análise do edifício de habitação popular Governador Archer

Abstract

The present work discusses revitalization policies related to housing, focusing on the Governador Archer Building reclassified by the Nosso Centro program in São Luís do Maranhão. This research is relevant because it aims to understand the characteristics of the Nosso Centro revitalization program, and how the process of housing and readjustment of the Governador Archer Building took place, how this redefined the user/building relationship and what the consequences were in the lives of the local population. and the surroundings. In this way, it seeks to understand the aspects of before and after the renovation of the historic building. It discusses how its readjustment project was prepared, and highlights the positive and negative points raised by the residents of the building and workers in the region, and to elaborate simple and viable solutions for any problems raised. The methodology used was divided into 3 parts: theoretical foundation, local diagnosis through APO, maps and questionnaires with residents and people around. It was perceived throughout the analyzes that the readjustment of the building and the delivery of property to the residents who already inhabited the place, perhaps it is not enough to become a decent dwelling.
