| Resumo: | In the postoperative period following anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction, physiotherapy is fundamental for functional recovery, and the use of reliable instruments to aid in decision-making regarding therapeutic discharge is essential. This study aimed to analyze the correlation between the International Knee Documentation Committee (IKDC) and Knee Outcome Survey – Activities of Daily Living Scale (ADLS KOS) scales in patients in the postoperative period of ACL reconstruction as a criterion for physiotherapy discharge. This is an observational study, with a cross-sectional design and quantitative approach, conducted with 22 individuals in the postoperative period of ACL reconstruction between 3 and 8 months at a Physiotherapy Teaching Clinic in São Luís-MA. The main findings demonstrate that patients presented a mean score of 71.3±12.2 points on the IKDC and 58.2±6.52 points on the ADLS-KOS, indicating moderate to good knee function even in the average period of 4.91±1.34 months post-surgery. A strong positive correlation was identified between the IKDC and ADLS-KOS (ρ=0.718; p<0.001), showing that both assess similar functional aspects. A very strong correlation was also observed between postoperative time and the IKDC (ρ=0.914; p<0.001) and a moderate to strong correlation with the ADLS-KOS (ρ=0.660; p<0.001), indicating that functional evolution is associated with rehabilitation time, confirmed in the scores of participants who were discharged from physiotherapy (6.80±0.44; p=<0.001) when compared to those who were not (4.35±0.93; p=<0.001). It is concluded that the IKDC and ADLS-KOS scales are valid, complementary, and clinically relevant instruments, contributing to an efficient, individualized, and evidence based assessment in the decision-making process for physiotherapy discharge. |
