Reações adversas do clareamento de consultório em dentes vitais: uma revisão de literatura

Abstract

The in-office dental bleaching is an aesthetic procedure quite searched nowadays. This occurs because the dental bleaching is an effective, fast and safe procedure. The dental bleaching consists in a procedure that uses a whitening gel on the dental structure, in order to remove deep stains. Although, even with all these advantages, the in-office dental bleaching can lead the patient to have some adverse reactions. Therefore, the most common adverse reactions that can occur in the patient during or after the procedure are: modification in enamel, tooth sensitivity, pulp irritation, adhesive strengh and modification on soft tissue. The present research aims to discuss about in-office dental bleaching adverse reactions, also approaching topics like: mechanism of action, etiology of color change, advantages, disadvantages, indications and contraindications. The bibliografic survey of this research was performed through the following databases: SCIELO, PUBMED and SCHOOLAR GOOGLE. Where were analyzed scientific reseachs between 2010 and 2020, in english and portuguese. Thereby, it is very relevant execute a great anamnesis to make the correct indication of the treatment and the whitening gel. Therefore, with the good execution of all the procedure by the dentist, the patient will have good results and will not present damage.
