Reabilitação com auxílio de mini-jig estético em pacientes com perda de dimensão vertical: uma revisão de literatura

Abstract

The loss of dental elements or excessive dental wear, mainly caused by parafunctions such as bruxism, tooth clenching, abfraction and attrition, can lead to a decrease in the Vertical Dimension of Occlusion (VOD). The loss of this facial measurement reflects an occlusal imbalance, functional and aesthetic deficiency for the patient. Therefore, this study aimed to analyze the rehabilitation of the vertical dimension of occlusion with the aid of the mini-jig. A literature review was carried out, of the narrative type, through the electronic search of scientific papers published on PUBMED, SCIELO and academic google websites. After analyzing the articles, it was found that alternatives for restoring the lost OVD have been discussed and increasingly used. For correct rehabilitation and adequate restoration of this dimension, some methods were suggested, such as the use of Lucia's mini-jig and the aesthetic mini-jig. The treatment has the importance of adapting and taking into account the aesthetic, functional and psychological functions, bringing a result of comfort, safety and stability for the patient.
