Além dos autos: a atuação interdisciplinar do Núcleo de Defesa da Mulher da Defensoria Pública do Estado do Maranhão no amparo às vítimas de violência doméstica de São Luís/MA

Abstract

Domestic and family violence against women, rooted in a historical patriarchal structure of submission and gender inequality, reveals the insufficiency of protective measures limited solely to the aggressor's removal, given that the victim remains vulnerable due to emotional and financial dependence. Facing this scenario of fragility, the present research sought to analyze the extent to which the interdisciplinary action of the Women's Defense Center of the Public Defender’s Office of the State of Maranhão contributes to the realization of the rights of women victims of domestic violence. To achieve this general objective, the research adopted the inductive method and an exploratory-descriptive design, based on bibliographical and documentary technical procedures, which included the analysis of national and international regulations and institutional data from two projects developed by the Women's Defense Center: the "Encontro com Elas" conversation group and the "Te Alui, Mulher!" project. The results demonstrated that traditional legal protection is insufficient for breaking the cycle of violence, but interdisciplinary intervention, which unites Law, Psychology, and Social Work, is essential for mitigating risks and promoting autonomy, attacking systemic vulnerabilities that mere judicial intervention could not reach, and materially realizing the human rights of women.
