A relação entre os jogos de futebol e violência doméstica em São Luís - MA

Abstract

This study begins with the analysis of the relationship between domestic violence and soccer. Today the patriarchal culture is wrapped up with the culture of the country of soccer while man for many years has been learning and passing on sexist teachings of possession and power towards women who must be submissive and obedient to his wishes. The passion for soccer comes into play at the proportion that the sport is a national passion, televised every Wednesday and Sunday on open television and is directly linked to the excessive consumption of alcohol and drugs. The combination of the patriarchal culture, with the passion for soccer and drugs both licit and illicit makes one wonders: Is there an increase on Wednesday and Sunday in cases of domestic violence in Sao Luís -MA? It’s presented as a solution the hypothesis of the need for the State to create and promote public policies aiming at the protection of women's rights in a more humane way, that even with the promulgation of the Law n° 11.340/2006 (Maria da Penha Law), women are still harmed since the law by itself does not protect them as well as it should. Using bibliographic and exploratory research and analyzing the Maria da Penha Law, besides interviews based on semi-structured questions, one can see the relationship between sexist and patriarchal cultures with the scarcity of public policies to solve the problem of this root.
