Abstract

Ameloblastoma can be characterized as a tissue tumor of the enamel organ, which does not present differentiation to the point of generating enamel, of benign character and of ectodermal origin. Although it is seen as a benign tumor, its clinical management can oscillate between benign and malignant. The resection of a mandibular portion, without proper reconstruction, generates serious aesthetic and functional complications, therefore, leading to a loss of quality of life. The present work aims to highlight the importance of mandibular reconstruction after ameloblastoma resection and to expose the types of graft that can be used in this situation. The scientific platforms used were Scielo, Google Scholar and Pubmed, in Portuguese and English, the inclusion criteria chosen were through articles that managed to more fully aggregate the theme, elucidate in a more consistent and cohesive way from the oldest to the most recent. most recent. In this way, we can conclude that although there are many means of mandibular reconstruction, it is still not feasible to obtain a perfect result, but by obtaining an early and accurate diagnosis, a good treatment plan and good performance of the technique, it is possible to achieve excellent results by improving the esthetics and mandibular function.
