Fake news e redes sociais: desafios ao processo eleitoral seguro e responsável

Abstract

Considering the growing issue of fake news in the electoral context, the objective is to understand how these false pieces of information have influenced public opinion and the behavior of voters during elections. This includes analyzing the measures taken by governmental bodies and control institutions, such as the Superior Electoral Court (TSE), to combat the spread of fake news and protect the integrity of the electoral process. Additionally, the aim is to examine the consequences of fake news for the legitimacy of elections, encompassing voter confidence in the democratic system, the erosion of the image of candidates and political parties, as well as the potential distortion of electoral results.To achieve these objectives, a comprehensive literature and documentary review on the subject is conducted. By critically analyzing relevant sources, the goal is to identify patterns, gaps, and valuable insights for understanding the phenomenon of fake news in the Brazilian electoral scenario between 2018 and 2022.In this way, it is observed that through the analysis of the results obtained in the literature and documentary review, it will be possible to shed light on the challenges faced by society and democratic institutions in the face of the dissemination of false information during the electoral process. Furthermore, the investigation of measures taken by relevant authorities and the analysis of the consequences of fake news for the legitimacy of elections will provide valuable insights for the development of effective strategies in combating the spread of false information, thereby promoting transparency, trust, and the integrity of the electoral process.
